Agilent 6890N Gas Chromatograph with Agilent 7683 Series Autosampler, DUAL Detectors FPD/NPD, this Agilent GC Agilent Gas Chromatograph
Demand for low-level sulfur and phosphorus detection will only increase in the future as a response to more stringent environmental and quality control and regulations.
The FPD (flame photometric detector) is often overlooked when the need for low-level volatile quantitation arises in the analytical laboratory.
The flame photometric detector (FPD) is used for the selective measurement of any S or P species that can be burned in a flame to product chemiluminescence. This corresponds to either small molecules like H2S or PH3 or large pesticides containing S or P.
The FPD is very sensitive and very selective detector for S or P compounds. It has the wide dynamic range (>106).
The NPD can be used for the analysis of organic compounds containing nitrogen or phosphorus down to the picogram level. The NPD has become the detector of choice for low-level drug and pesticide applications because of its sensitivity and selectivity.
